Contest Brief

Here's the general feel/word map;

We are a POWER building organization and we are serious about building that power.
[People power / Tenant power / Tenant UNIONS / Unions everywhere!]

We build with intention, we move with purpose, we move together, we are methodical.
Housing is a basic human need. We will not stop until these needs are met.

We are a local chapter for state wide coalition tenant power building org.

General feel:
[Swarm / Killer bee / fuck with the hive, die the death of a thousand stings]
Housing is a basic human need, and thus should be included as a human right.
We fight for: Safe - Accessible - Truly affordable homes for *SGF Tenants.

We are not afraid to work for that sweet honey - we exist to speak truth to power and to defend and fight as tenants. For tenants by tenants.
We are a AGGRESSIVE and we mean business.

[Queen bee. Family. Neighbors. Comrades]
[Direct action / Civil disobedience]
[Fight city council / Fight the power]

We believe in mutual aid, collective power and that the people closest to the problem are the closest to the solution.
We believe the only way to build is to build Cooperatively and Collectively.
We are building a Coalition, a CommUNITY, a hive.
No one's coming to save us, we must save ourselves.

For the logo;
Background will be a loud yellow
Ink will be primarily black with some red
Logo will be used on shirts, Flyers, Social Media, Bumper Stickers, Digital Flyers

The logo should;
Be a Bee
Inspire
Be Aggressive (Bee-E Aggressive!)
Be a mascot
Make somebody want to root for their chosen team
Look clean
Be flyer friendly
Be an original work by the submitter

The logo should not be;
A property [House, Keys, Etc] (unless in the style of; hives / honeycombs)
Bohemian / Grungy / Cluttered (too detailed)
Sterile / Clinical (Advocacy Group, standard Corporate, Non-Profit Industrial Complex)
A Fist
A Bull


We stand in SOLIDARITY with other local power building orgs. We want match intensity, intention and theme of their logo without duplicating it (a bull).
KC Tenants* logo's implied connotation is:
[When you fuck with the bull, you get the horns]

As themed above, we have discussed and connected with the bee as a mascot and logo, but are not married to this if you have an amazing idea you'd like to pitch. We will be checking for messages and giving/receiving feedback regularly throughout these 7 days.
