Contest Brief

We are looking for an illustrator to create drawings of 6 bees for a local, family apiary to go on honey jar labels. Each bee shall get 2 drawings in different poses (one vertical, one horizontal), so this makes 12 drawings in total. Through the drawings we want to show a small society/family of bees (maybe somewhat similar to Smurfs of Minions) that all are a bit different and thus interesting and when gathered together make for a amusing and fun group to spend time with.

The subject of this contest are only 2 drawings of 2 different bees (i.e. 1 vertical and 1 horizontal; each different bee character). Once an illustrator with appropriate style is found an opportunity for cooperation on 10 further drawings is certain. Our total maximum budget for the remaining 10 drawings is $300.

The bees should be:
- relaxed, positive and can be a bit goofy
- please bear in mind that our end result is a family of 6 (and possibly more in the future) bees and they need to be different from one another and create a fun group
- each be should have a slightly different character (i.e. one can be a jester, another one can be a chilled out bee, another can be more like a sage or a bit of a gluton etc.);
- one of the bees needs to be holding/eating/playing with a raspberry
- one of the bees needs to be holding/eating/playing with an orange

The bees shouldn't be:
- lazy
- mean/negative
- too cartoony or very exaggerated

Other requirements:
- we expect only original work - NO stock images - NO copying others drawings in whole or partially
- unlimited (in time and all territories) usage rights for all media
- black drawing on white background only
- detailed hand drawn style OR detailed woodcut
- see attached files for reference of the drawing style
