Flyers for Human Connections

Contest Brief

I am the director of a non-profit organization called Human Connections (humanconnections.org, more info below) and would like to begin outsourcing our graphic design projects. We regularly need brochures, flyers, t-shirts, and other marketing materials - it would be so wonderful to have one person stay work with us long-term to help keep our style consistent and powerful :)

Our first project is to re-work a flyer that promotes our Global Engagement Trips. Attached is a sample of the flyer (file name is "GET brochure-general") we are currently using, which we made ourselves. We'd like to use this text or the more simplified content pasted into the Google Doc linked below. We want something fresh, somewhat corporate but young and approachable too.

We think our photos are important to conveying our work, and so I've attached my favorite photos, which you're free to use as you'd like for this test flyer. Note that we want to highlight the concept of cross-cultural exchange.

The dimension of this particular flyer should be 5.5in x 8.5in (half-page), with one side in color and the other side monotone. This is a different format than the sample I attached, but helps us keep our costs low during the printing process. We would like to receive the working file in InDesign format so that we can make modifications to the text.

I'm attaching some other designs that I found on the Internet and that I like. These styles are different than what we've done in the past (different from my own sample brochure) but that's what I'm looking for: new inspiration!

Please know that this is our test project! We would love to "e-meet" a designer that can work with us for many years to come.

Human Connections is a social enterprise that connects travellers and small business owners in Latin America. From our base in Mexico, we offer day tours, weeklong educational trips, and student internships that give local entrepreneurs a platform to tell their own stories and share their culture. TARGET MARKET:
Our brand needs to appeal to our potential customers, who are (in this order):
1. American college students, age 21-23, studying business, Spanish, or international relations. These are socially-oriented students with an interest in human rights and international economic development.
2. The professors of these students
3. International tourists that travel to Mexico (generally Americans or Canadians aged 45-65)

    UPDATE: Hi everyone! I just wanted to provide some general words of encouragement and updates about my design preferences. I am liking the designs so far but would be excited to see more variation / creativity. I am looking for a new look and am open to different fonts and a completely different layout. I've attached a number of screenshots of flyers I found on the Internet and like - I think these styles would resonate well with our target market. Please note that you do not need to use all of the content / text from the "GET-brochure-general" attachment - it's okay if you just pull pieces. Also, you do not need to use all of the attached photos. Playing with icons or infographics is fine too, though using the photos in any capacity is lovely as well. You are the professional! I look forward to learning from you!
