Contest Brief

Hello,

We have to refresh an old basque barn, to be used as a commercial center, with a inner couryard in the back, applying as many of the proposed changes as possible. I will guide the participants in order to allow them to advance with the modelling with clearer specifications. Remember it should try to follow the Basque construction style.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO RENDER EVERYTHING, WE CAN CONTINUE FROM WHERE YOU LEFT IT IF YOU WORK IS GOOD.
Many thanks in advance!

Description:
RECYCLING:

One note regarding the brick upper part, it will be plastered outdoor, and unplastered indoor. Also try to model the roof struts with the horizontal bars if possible, to be closer to the real one.

How wide should the front doors be? About the same size or not that wide? Also, would you like the doors to have an arch too? I'm asking this, because I have almost never seen arched door with eave/canopy over the top.

We are like brainstorming in that tradition, if you can provide several nice alternatives, better. You could try a single tiled leave, and it could be also of semicircular shape.

Also it is mentioned that there should be toilet and kitchen inside. Where exactly in the barn and how large should they be? Also is the barn connected to any other buildings, are there any doors, walls or entrances which we should be aware of?

Let's say at the back, on the right, completing the back area with the courtyard.

This seems interesting, I'll definitely try my hand at this one. It is really nice that you have provided some material for inspiration.
For now I have only one question: What's the current material of the facade? Because it's quite hard to tell from those pictures. As I understand the barn will be heavily changed and renoved, so we are pretty much free to choose the materials and looks of everything as long as it is in the demanded style, right?

Another note: We should try to use mainly traditional materials (Wood for the windows and doors), tiles, etc.

The English term of the desired space is inner courtyard, sorry for using the wrong word.

One clarification: We jus have to intervene on the barn itself, not the surroundings! We will take out 2x3 meters of the roof, and create a patio, closing the building with glass, so we can see the plants and maybe a fountain.
