Contest Brief

I'm making a 2D arcade game and need the main character to be a jumping cat, yes a cat.

See the attached video of game capture from an Amiga game called Jumping Jackson to see what kind of animation i need. Also need a suitably mad cat character design - see flat idea uploaded to show concept and possible markings.

Things to note:
Cat will be standing upright (anthropomorphic) with a large head.
Cat will need a tail (same animation can be used for left and right).
Animation requires the head to roughly stay where it is as in the Amiga game animation.
Cat doesn't need white gloves or boots etc just recognisble paws, and cute moving ears that correspond with the jump.
Animation is strictly in the cardinal directions only.
Cat will be jumping around a grid of squares in my game NOT rectangles as in Jumping Jackson.
This is not a pixel art animation.

I'm open to ideas on the initial cat character although bear in mind the cat will be literally jumping around a vibrant neon garish disco grid floor and needs to look as though it belongs there and stand out at the same time (that's partly why I suggest orange as a base colour). I can provide screen shots of the playing area as it stands to give an idea.

Once the concept is approved then I suggest we proceed to a basic animation to get the jump right and from there continue onto the rest of the sprites.

Ideally I would prefer vector based finals however I am happy to accept artwork that accomodates the animation at 1024 by 1024, RGB, correctly aligned (if that's the term) so the base of the animation is in the same place near the bottom.

Credit will be added in the game if you wish it to be.
Game is set to be on PC/Mac and Nintendo Switch.

I forgot to mention the disco floor colours and tile patterns will vary according to level - I left them on magenta squares/lines for now.

I have added an mp4 of the game grid as it stands to give an idea of colour and how to the cat has to fit in.
The cat needs to be viewed from more of an overhead view like the Jumping Jackson game.
How many frames per animation? I have no idea that's why I'm looking for an animator. If it helps the cat needs to bounce roughly twice a second.

Fun Project! Do you have some of the elements already done? It would be good to upload them for us to see. If not, then at least some other similar games with the style you are going for.

A couple of doubts, then the character must be seen in that perspective, from overhead view; and how many frames would the animation have to be made for? It would be nice if you upload images of the game interface (play zone), to have a better view of the project.
