Create some pixel art for a turn-based strategy game

Contest Brief

We are looking for a pixel artist to create all the graphics for a 2D turn-based strategy game.
The core gameplay would be somewhat similar to the old "Advance Wars" series, but of course wth its very own unique style and with lots of fresh new ideas. We don't want to make a copy of anything.

For this contest, we'd like you demonstrate your skill as a pixel artist. You could create and submit a few sample designs for unit types, like Infantry, tanks, ships or aircrafts... or you could even design and submit a whole map with a full battle going on, if you're feeling ambitious. The preferred art style is bright and colorful, as opposed to dark and serious. Also, feel free to include other pixel art you might have created in the past. Details are not important yet, since your entry probably won't show up in the final game - it's just so we can pick the perfect artist for our game.

This game will very likely be a rather big project, so there will be a lot of work in it for the winner of this contest. Future tasks will be divided into smaller projects (like "Fully design one unit type" or "Create the main menu UI") instead of one big project, so that you don't have to finish the whole game before you get paid.

Attached to this description you see a few screenshots from a the very early prototype version of the game. The current graphics are pretty bad placeholder images, quickly put together by the programmer, which is why we need a skilled pixel artist, obviously ;)

      A fixed or preferred size does not yet exist, since it depends too much on the artist's style to already tell. The one thing I know for now is that there will be at least two different sizes (one small size for all the pieces on the board, and one larger more detailed size for the battle animations). Also, since the battlefield will be divided in square tiles, the units should fit into one tile each.
