Contest Brief

I need an e-book cover design for a manuscript I am in the process of editing.
It needs to be submitted in (at least) a jpeg file, and a high res PDF.
There are no ongoing royalties as I cannot guarantee the sales of the ebook so I must have exclusive copyrights to the image.

I may ask you to prove the source of the photo/images you are using, especially if they contain people, to ensure that they have been purchased from a legitimate stock (shutterstock etc) and have no copyright entitlements against them. Anyone using images I find have been fraudulently picked up from elsewhere will be rejected and reported. I kid you not, I once ran a contest and someone tried to use a image from LOTR and claimed it to be their own design!

I have chosen the cost of this contest to be in line with my own budget and anyone asking me to spend on additional contest options will be ignored.

It must show the title: A Sting in the Tale
It must show my name as: K F Williams

The book takes place during the winter, and centers around a woman. She is in her early twenties and has brown hair and green eyes. She has the ability to shift in to an animal; a stoat. In the winter a stoat goes ermine, which means pure white with a black tip to the tail, please make sure you use correctly coloured images if you are going to include the stoat. She finds a group of strange creatures trying to hide in her shed they are humanoid in shape and in the face but have antenna, clear wings and fluffy yellow and black fur like a bumblebee. These bees are on the run from a group of people who traffick in them for profit and the story centers around keeping them safe and bringing the traffickers to justice.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

so long as they are royalty free and you can prove i won't be breaching another site/company/or person copyright than yes. if you are ripping them off a google search for your own benefit then obviously NO!

The main character changes into a stoat. The main villain doesn't change into an animal.

The time frame is modern day but in an alternate kind of reality were people are able to shift into animals. The book is set in the winter . the girl is able to turn into a stoat but doesn't use any weapons.

Do you have a preference regarding stylistic approach? Would something sketchy or otherwise impressionistic be of interest to you..?

I don't mind sketchy or impressionist work so long as it matches the colouring and descriptions given above and the cover as a whole is completed to a consistent standard. For example hand drawn pictures pasted on to real life photos usually don't work well. Given the description of the bees which are the focus of the book I realise that finding photos of something completely imaginary is going to be hard, but as they are a key component of the story it is important that some reference to them and/or the threat that they face is some where on the cover.
