Contest Brief

Dear designers,

We are a clean tech start-up developing a clean water-maker that will take in any source of contaminated water (rivers, lakes, wells, flooded areas) and transform it into clean drinkable water for everyone. Our design is especially useful for industrial water treatment, disaster relief, water-stressed areas operations, etc.

It is a fairly complex system technology-wise, and its design is currently kind of "rough" (as you can see in the drawings below). Our goal here is to create a cubic "shell" that will hide the inner workings of our products and still convey what it does : a clean, techonological product that takes dirty contaminated water on one side and gives clean and clear water on the other side. This should ultimately look like an "high-tech" cube that conveys "green technology" and hope for the future. The shell can definitely be powered and have courtesy lights if it improves the look and feel. These cubes can be stacked together to produce the desired amount of water.

At this point, I'm looking for high quality concept sketches of that shell (see "Design example" image for expected quality). The dimensions are included in the product drawings : it's a cube of 4' x 5 ' x 5 ' cube (including the pallet on which it is placed) and the shell should cover all of it and include holes for transportation (like the pallet).

Product details:
on the" 3-4th in" image, you will see important details for the shell : it has 3 tubes and 1 power in. The power chord goes to the control box. It is displayed as a sort of "wall" in our product, but the control box should be accessible from the shell, so you can get that wall closer to the shell. The 3 tubes are easy to understand: one is for the dirty water intake, one is for the clean water output, and one is for the Brine (or residue) discharge. These 3 tubes and the power chord go in the shell on the same face of the cube.

The Two cylinders that you can see are membrane vessels, which open from the top. Maintenance requires that we can access these vessels to clean the membranes, so it is important that the shell opens from the top. Please design that as well.
I added the logo of our company, "NEREO" in the images, needs to appear on the sides and on top of the box.

I have included all views of our current product. a "Design Example" image of what we're looking for in terms of quality. There are also a few images of industrial products we find interesting in terms of design, but please don't be too influenced by them: we're looking for original concepts!

can all the pipes, coming out, be put in one line by using L-connections or will that create any technical problem? why is the power cord in the form of a pipe?

  each pipe needs to be separate because their functions are different. The power chord is represented by a pipe, but it is a power chord so no need to put a pipe there

I noticed a control panel. Is it touch screen? Do you want to use the same technique or go for button enabled also?

  Hi there. The screen is a touch screen. We'll put all switches and controls inside the box, so no need to design for that. Just the touch screen needs to be accessible. Thank you !
